Job description

As part of our social responsibility initiatives, the NNR provides opportunities to unemployed graduates to receive workplace skills and experience.

Minimum requirements

  • NQF level 6 in Analytical Chemistry/Chemistry/Applied Radiation Science
  • No work experience, graduate in search of internship to gain experience
  • Basic knowledge of radioactivity and radioactivity measurements is advantageous
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS office 

Skills Development and Training focus areas
  • Implementation on sample administration procedure which involves sample receipt, storage and processing.
  • Receive relevant training on the various analytical techniques and use of instruments.
  • Preparation procedures for various sample matrices.
  • Laboratory analysis of samples using Gamma Spectroscopy and Alpha Spectroscopy techniques.
  • Training on the administration of portable instruments. 
  • Training the implementation of the Quality Assurance program.
  • Training on the calibration of various instruments.
  • Participate in all the above activities on a regular basis including assistance with the maintenance of all the laboratory infrastructure.
