Job description

To conduct compliance assurance activities that include inspections, audits, surveillance, investigations, environmental sampling and review of reports submitted by authorisation holders in order to verify the compliance of authorisation holders with the NNR Act regulations, conditions of the nuclear authorisation and requirements, and take/recommend appropriate enforcement actions.

Minimum requirements


  • NQF level 8 (Honours) in Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Management or NQF level 8 (Honours) in Chemical, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a relevant regulatory work, operational or inspection

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts inspections and monitor implementation of corrective actions
  • Review routine compliance submissions from authorisation holders
  • Review environmental monitoring reports from Authorisation Holders
  • Respond to events (occurrence, incidents and accidents) as reported at authorisation holders’ facilities
  • Recommend enforcement actions as appropriate
  • Monitor performance trends against safety indicators in assigned areas or facilities
  • Prepare reports on work undertaken

This position requires frequent travelling and the candidate must have a valid driver's licence
